Does ReadVid work on videos without subtitles?
ReadVid relies on the video's subtitles (including auto-generated captions). If a video has no subtitle track at all, it cannot be converted.
Is my API key safe?
Your API key is stored locally in your browser's extension storage and is only sent to the endpoint you configure. It never passes through ReadVid servers.
Which AI providers are supported?
Any OpenAI Chat Completions–compatible API. Presets are included for DeepSeek, OpenAI, Google Gemini, Qwen, Kimi, GLM, Doubao, Hunyuan, Xiaomi MiMo, OpenRouter and xAI.
What does the free quota include?
After signing in with Google or Microsoft you get a daily quota plus a total cap per account, served by a hosted model. For unlimited usage, configure your own API key.
Where are my generated articles stored?
Locally, in the extension's storage with no history limit, and you can export any article as Markdown or PDF.
